Vaults York

Vaults York is the reimagining and revitalisation of a once-loved York music venue, Victoria Vaults, building on its legacy, while reconnecting it with the local community. The project focused on creating a contemporary brand identity that reflects the energy, openness and authenticity of York’s grassroots music scene, positioning Vaults York as an inclusive space for live music, emerging artists, learning, collaboration and social interaction.
Inspired by the raw energy of independent music culture, the visual identity combines the Cake Mono typeface with dynamic soundwave graphics derived from the logo and textured halftone imagery influenced by DIY gig posters and analogue media. Together, these elements create an authentic and recognisable identity that feels both contemporary and rooted in music culture, reflecting Vaults York’s role as a creative, community-focused space.
